Daniel Shen, Editor-in-Chief

Daniel joined the Tribune in his sophomore year upon the recommendation of former editor-in-chief Amanda Su. In his two years, he’s written about school events, music and immigration, and deeply enjoyed building the Tribune’s digital presence. This year, he looks forward to writing a column, leading more investigations and further expanding the Tribune’s reach in the community. Every night, two hours before bed, Daniel eats whole-grain cereal with a cup of 2% milk while listening to K-pop.

Luminaria speaker Ashley Chen, sophomore, pays an emotional tribute to her late mother, who passed away in 2009 from primary peritoneal cancer. “I remember being angered when I went to parent-teacher conferences and seeing all the other kids who came with their mom and dad. I envied those classmates who told me stories of them going shopping with their mom, getting their nails done, watching movies … I recall some nights where I just couldn’t accept the way everything turned out because of her death,” she said.
