Student Press Freedom Day 2020

Student journalists across the nation will celebrate Student Press Freedom Day on Jan. 29, 2020, appreciating the work of student journalists and promoting freedom of the press against censorship.

Despite the recent expansion of modern digital journalism, some student journalists across the country have faced pressure from school administration and other authorities to not publish controversial stories. Such a day is needed to reinforce the important and growing role of student journalists in maintaining a democratic society today.
