The DVHS stunt team secured a 32-23 win against the Foothill High School Falcons at their home game on March 31, 2026.
The Wildcats set the tone early, taking control during the first quarter where they performed partner stunts. They gained two points against the Falcons in the first routine and continued building momentum, winning multiple partner stunt matchups. By the end of the quarter, the Wildcats had a 7-3 lead.
In the second quarter, both teams performed identical routines featuring pyramids and tosses. Foothill briefly shortened the gap by winning the opening routine of the quarter, but the Wildcats quickly obtained their lead once again with another strong performance. Both teams traded points, but by the end of the second quarter, the Wildcats were ahead with a score of 12-9.
After halftime, the Wildcats continued their strong lead in the third quarter which focused on jumps and tumbling. The Wildcats had consistent execution and clean routines, keeping Foothill from gaining points. At the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats maintained their lead, increasing the gap with a score of 17-11.
The fourth quarter featured high-energy dance routines that combined partner stunts, pyramids, tosses, jumps and tumbling. The Wildcats were able to keep their lead with their strong finishes and clean pyramids, outscoring the Falcons in most sections of the routines.
Throughout the game, the Wildcats were able to keep their lead, maintaining consistent performances across each quarter and responding quickly whenever Foothill attempted to close the gap. Their strong execution in the first half of the game gave them momentum that they continued to carry on till the end.
Senior Marissa Ratcliff, one of the captains on the team described the highlight of the game for her.
“The best moment was the beginning because we started off strong and ended strong,” Ratcliff noted.
She added on, describing the team’s performance in general.
“Our performance was phenomenal, we all worked together and stayed hype which made us play well,” Ratcliff explained. “Keeping our best energy is what made us fierce.”
Since this game was also the team’s senior night, it felt bittersweet for the players.
Ratcliff shared, “It represents one of the last games and memories we will have on the team before the seniors go to college and my last season of playing one of my favorite sports.”
Sophomore Tahlia Day, a member on the team for two years, shared a message to the stunt team’s seniors.
She said, “thank you for being such good role models to us, you really set the team standard this year and you continue to motivate us to be better each game! We love and will miss you guys!”
