DV Track and Field Team takes on the Super 7 Invite

On March 14, 2015, the Dougherty Valley Track and Field Team competed in the East Bay Invitational Meet held at San Ramon Valley High School. The team had a successful meet with many of their athletes placing in top spots.

The boys came out ready to compete, with extremely quick times. In the 100 meter dash, freshman Ethan Song placed 10th with a speedy time of 11.59 seconds. Junior Dhroovaa Khannan finished not far behind with a time of 12.07 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, senior James Spencer placed first with an outstanding time of 50.63 seconds. Junior Sam Tarasow placed eighth with an impressive time of 52.28 seconds.

In the 110 meter Hurdles- 39”, junior Harish Athavan placed 12th with a fast time of 18.78 seconds.

In the jumping events, they boys did fairly well. Junior Nathan Barney soared up 5’4 feet in the High Jump event. In Long Jump, senior Harrison Kwong sprung forward an impressive 18’8. 5 feet. Kwong also placed fourth in the Triple Jump event with an amazing distance of 40’6 feet.

The boys also performed well out on the field. Junior Aditya Garg  threw the 12 pound shot put an amazing 35 feet. Senior Neil Rana got fourth place in the 1.6 kg Discus event, throwing it an extraordinary 128.5 feet.

The girls also performed phenomenally. Seniors Kristen Glavee and Emoni Horton ran the 100 meter dash with fast times of 13.60 seconds and 14.49 seconds.

In the hurdling events, senior Michelle Thompson leaped her way to first place, completing the 300 meter- 30” hurdles with an astonishingly quick time of just 43.45 seconds.

The girls also sprung into the air in their jumping events. In pole vault, junior Gina Brooks flew over the bar with a height of 6’6 feet. In Long Jump, Junior Brittany Tran placed sixth jumping a distance of 14’2. 25 feet. Junior Christene Lee finished the triple jump with a distance of 28’9 feet.

Lastly, but definitely not least, senior Taylor Woo placed sixth in the discus field event, throwing the 1 kg discus an impressive 92’5. 5 feet.

The Wildcats Track and Field Team’s next meet is the Stanford Invitational on April 3 at Stanford University.
