The Grub Guide: La Tapatia

  • The breakfast menu at La Tapatia was comprehensive and included a wide variety of options, from burritos and soups, to nachos and appetizers such as jalapeno poppers. I ordered the jalapeno poppers, the vegetable burrito, and the flan for dessert.

  • The poppers were very flavorful and the jalapeños inside tasted fresh. The cheese within the crispy crust was melted and tasted perfect with the peppery jalapeño. I would rate the poppers an 8/10.

  • The vegetable burrito was enormous, so I split it with my mother (I still couldn’t finish it!). The burrito itself didn’t have any spicy flavor, however the steamed vegetables tasted great with the rice. The burrito also came with guacamole and sour cream which were great with the vegetables as well. I would rate the burrito a 6.5/10.

  • I ordered flan for dessert, and I was pleasantly surprised with the presentation of the whipped cream atop the sweet flan, surrounded by a pool of sugary syrup. Inside, the flan was creamy and melted as soon as I placed a spoonful in my mouth. I would rate the flan 9/10.

This Saturday I felt like going out to get a bite for breakfast with my family and my sister chose this adorable fancy Mexican cuisine in Concord, named La Tapatia. We arrived at the restaurant around 11 a.m., and the doors had just opened. My family chose to sit in the outside seating area as the weather was nice and we were served promptly as there were only a few customers at the time.

The restaurant had an amazing cool outside seating area, and the service was exceptional and quick, I would rate the general experience an 8.5/10. It is a great place to spend time with friends and family as well as a great option to grab a bite after a long day.
