For the first time in school history, the Dougherty Valley Varsity boys football beat the Dublin High Gaels, with a winning score of 34-27.

All day Friday the suspense was building.  Would we make history and  defeat the Gaels?

With a forceful offensive line, running the ball well, and a tough defense, along with the legendary Dougherty school spirit, our Wildcats persevered. Friday night was a night to remember.  Among other successes of the night, the boys were able to run the ball for a total of 385 yards.

Michael Pangelinan caught all four touchdowns for the night, including the game-winning touchdown with only 1:05 left on the clock.  As the scoreboard changed to “DVHS 34 Dublin 27”, the crowd went wild.

Throughout the entire game, both sides of the stadium were screaming and supporting their teams. After six long years, this was a game that will stand as one of the highlights of our football season.  With a 34-27 final, it was evident that both teams put all they could into winning this game.

Coach Tisa was especially proud of his players, recounting that he was especially proud of his senior players for “setting the precedent for good leadership, hard work, dedication and buy in.”

It was amazing to see how many Dougherty students, teachers, and staff showed up to this away game.  Tisa was especially happy to see how many fans were there supporting the Wildcat players.

“The proudest moment for me was our fans being there and not rushing the field.  We’re classier than that.  I think its better when you go to somebody’s field, you just walk away with the trophy.”

Hopes are high that this streak will continue, especially at the Homecoming game against Miramonte on October 26.  Go Wildcats!
