As the days become shorter, the weather becomes cooler and the work seems never-ending, we all could use a break, and fall is the perfect time for that. It’s the best time to slow down, grab a blanket and dive into some games that match the cozy vibes. Nintendo has plenty of titles that capture the autumn vibe. Cozy games are all about prioritizing relaxation, calming visuals and exploring immersive worlds. Without further ado, here are some of the coziest Switch games to play this fall that will make you feel right at home with the season.
“Tiny Bookshop”:
For all the book lovers out there, this is the perfect game for you. In “Tiny Bookshop,” you play as a shopkeeper tending to your own bookstore. The game lets you decorate the caravan that serves as your store, choose which books to sell and recommend them to customers who stop in. The store is mobile, allowing players to travel to different parts of the island, and the game also includes small quests, with a chill storyline to follow. The animation in “Tiny Bookshop” is truly one of a kind, which adds to the cozy vibes. The best part is that you can interact with all the residents and learn about their lives through the books they read. The management style gives the game enough stakes while still being effortless.

“Tales of the Shire”:
Speaking of books, this Switch game is based on the one and only “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien. Imagining the life of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, minus saving the world, is what this game is all about. A huge part of the experience is cooking. You can grow vegetables, explore the countryside for exotic ingredients and relax by the ponds to gather fish. Apart from food, you can decorate your Hobbit-Hole with furniture and decor obtained from neighbors. This is guaranteed to be a stress-free game, where your biggest worry will be whether or not your strawberry plant will grow fast enough. A unique aspect of “Tales of the Shire” is the blue birds, which act as a navigational system guiding you through the map to quest objectives. They make exploring the game a whole lot more enjoyable and whimsical.

“Ooblets”
This vibrant game is truly the pick of the crop when it comes to farming games. As a resident of Badgetown, your job is to revitalize your abandoned farm, meet the townsfolk, tend to your “ooblets” and have dance battles. These lively competitions train your ooblets to explore Badgetown’s regions and stand up against those threatening your town. While this may seem quite adventurous, it’s very easy and doesn’t require much effort. The upbeat music, the delightful characters and their humorous dialogue make this game a perfect way to unwind.

“Animal Crossing”:
This is one of the most iconic games in the cozy genre, and it had to be included. Animal Crossing is an island simulation where you start off on a deserted island with fellow residents. From there, you work to personalize your island by choosing the residents, decorating it to your liking and deciding the locations of the island’s shops. You can collect bugs, go fishing, make waterfalls, kick your neighbors out and even visit other islands created by fellow gamers. “Animal Crossing” is one of the cutest, most enjoyable games you’ll ever play. Its stunning animation and unique characters are truly one of a kind, and once the game adapts to your local time and month, it’s perfect for fall, along with every other season.

“Stardew Valley”:
Experience the magic of fall in this ridiculously cozy game, “Stardew Valley.” This farming simulation is all about wandering around the forests, watching the leaves fall and harvesting pumpkins. In this game, you can go fishing, decorate your house and join the seasonal festivals that bring this town to life. There is something so simple, yet so fascinating about “Stardew Valley” that makes it a perfect escape for any season. The visuals, the ambiance and even walking across the screen make you pause and reflect.
“Witchbrook” (Honorary Mention):
During a Nintendo Switch Showcase in March 2025, Nintendo announced that “Witchbrook” will release sometime in the winter. Despite its prolonged wait, this game should surely be on your radar. From the mini-clips that developers have published, the art style seems to be incredibly similar to “Stardew Valley,” but that’s where the similarities end. Unlike “Stardew Valley,” “Witchbrook” is set in a seaside city where you can attend Witchbrook College, a school for witches and wizards. Some of the many classes offered here include Alchemy, Tarot card reading and the Arcane arts. The skills learned there allow you to connect with the townsfolk when helping them solve their daily problems. Many of the buildings in Witchbrook are modeled after Medieval architecture and bridges from Cambridge. The game designers of Witchbrook, inspired by “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and the “Tiffany Aching” series, focused on using magic as a way to connect with others. Like most of the other games on this list, the seasons and months match with where you’re playing from.
