“Minari”: Yuh-jung Youn

Winner:
“Minari”: Yuh-jung Youn
I know that the likelihood of Yuh-jung Youn winning is a little smaller than some of the other big-name, A-List, actresses she’s nominated against, but I’m sticking to my gut because I truly think she deserves this award. Youn serves up a delicate, subtle, yet expressive performance in “Minari”. She perfectly encapsulates the story of a grandmother immigrating with her daughter’s family to the United States and the anxiety and fear that most immigrants have normalized in their lives, however, also flawlessly encapsulating the humor and warmth of a grandmother with her grandchildren.
