“It’s been fun to prove to myself that I can learn something new.”
Ms. Molly Topf
“I’m a licensed California realtor. I chose to work for Better Homes and Gardens, which is in Danville. I’ve been doing it for a little bit over a year. There’s no typical day-to-day, it depends on how many clients I have. It’s mostly been friends and family, and now it’s grown to be referrals … I mostly have been representing the buyer. I’m also in communication with my client’s mortgage brokers to make sure that everything’s moving ahead with the loan. I have some clients who are looking for homes in this area and I’m always sending them ideas for homes they might want to purchase that meet all their guidelines … and then I reach out to the listing agent and see if I can go show the house to them. It was really interesting at age 41 to take on a new career, so it’s been fun to prove to myself that I can learn something new. [My husband and I] found that when we were going through the home buying process, we felt like no one was really being impartial, and we wanted to do that. So he got his license … and convinced me to get mine. There are times … [when I don’t get] home until 9:30 and it just [feels like] a long day. But I find that life comes in waves, and [this] happens to be a busy one, but it’s possible that in two months, it will be much quieter. I just trust that any business that makes me feel a little off-kilter is only temporary.”
