“Fashion is an easy medium to show my own creativity.”

Stephanie Su

“I started getting into fashion in seventh grade when I realized it could make a huge difference in my appearance and make me feel a lot more confident. I wanted to find one way to express myself, and I wasn’t particularly good at art, but I found fashion was an easier medium to show my own creativity. At the beginning, I always had one type of outfit, but as time went on, I realized there’s so many more options. I started experimenting with different sweaters and blazers. [Over the summer,] I went to a program called ‘Three Days of Fashion’ hosted by a fashion college called FIDM in San Francisco. We did activities that designers do and learned more about the fashion program and how to make it a career. I [also started Fashion Club at Dougherty] and I think it was a cool way to talk about a common interest with other people. Especially in such a science driven community, it’s nice to be able to sit down and talk about something a little more chill. I’m passionate about this because its one way I can express myself easily and every day I can dress a different way that I want, from preppy to fun.”
