“People will truly connect [with] you as long as you are as authentic and unique as possible.”

Advik Nigam: “Before high school, I played piano a lot at home and did percussion in the school band. While I still do both of these things even now, lots of doors have opened since the start of my freshman year. Around that time, in late 2019, I got into both music production and songwriting, even joining the DVHS Music Club! I started off using GarageBand on the phone, and put little sentences I conjured up in a Google Doc. When quarantine began, I made the transition to Logic Pro and revamped my already existing YouTube channel. There I started posting instrumental mallet and kalimba covers. I wanted to further diversify my music-related content, so I summoned the courage to put out a couple of original songs, entirely written and produced by me, one about the political state of affairs and our part in it called “faith in humanity” and a Christmas song reminiscing on pre-COVID times and happy memories called “white elephant”, both of which I’ve grown to love! As for my instrumental covers, I’ve compiled them into a full-length album out on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and YouTube called “my second home”, the title being how I feel about music in general! I take inspiration from a variety of genres from classical piano/marimba/guitar to mainstream pop. I believe that people will truly connect to you as long as you are as authentic and unique as possible, and that goes for all aspects of life, not just music. I am always creating and writing and I hope to put out a lot more original work this year in 2021!”
